About

ThemeParks.ie is a gallery of some of the photographs I've taken while visiting amusement parks and fun fairs around the world. Trip reports and many more photographs can be found at my roller coaster pages.

A few images suitable for desktop wallpaper use can be found here.

Please note that all on-ride photographs have been taken with the permission of parks concerned.

Mangyongdae Funfair
Pyongyang, North Korea

Mangyongdae Funfair is by far the largest amusement park in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. It was constructed in the early 1980s, and all the rides date from that time. The majority were supplied by Meisho Amusement Machines, though all manufacturer markings have been removed.

There are two separate sections of the fair that are normally connected via a cable car, which was closed for my visit; the alternative is a five minute drive around the side of the nearby mountain. My tour guides would probably not have brought me to the second section if I'd not specifically asked about the missing roller coasters; those planning a visit should bear that in mind!
