Perks' purchase this year of a new Wild Mouse presents an interesting conundrum, namely how to tell apart two different Irish owned coasters with (mostly) the same layout. Fortunately there are four obvious differences visible even to the non-geek:

Colour; Birds' model has blue supports.
Station; Birds' unit has the station on the side.
Length; Perks' model is the "short model", with one less switchback section at the top of the ride.
Restraints; this new model is a Zamperla version which features individual lap bars stretching from the bottom of the car. Birds' model is a Reverchon, which has one bar for each side of the car.

The key part of the story is indeed the manufacturer; Zamperla took a successful design and reengineered it to reduce the minimum height requirement. Unfortunately, their new restraint design is not as comfortable as the original. Why couldn't they leave well enough alone?
