Superman is one of just two reverse-freefall rides in the world, the other being at Dreamworld in Australia. A single car is accelerated up a tower by linear-induction motors, and allowed to fall backwards powered by gravity and momentum. The top of the tower is visible in the centre of the photograph, some 415ft into the sky, though the cars rarely make it more than two thirds of the way up.
